Born on a Riverbed-Alison Anderson Nampitjinpa

Posted by on April 14, 2011

The excitement was palpable on Wednesday night as the Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery opened the first Solo Exhibition of Alison Anderson Nampitjinpa.

We had the honour of welcoming Wendy Whitely to launch the exhibition. Wendy is a long time friend and admirer of Alison’s work, she enthused “This is one of the best days of my life”!

Alison spoke of her birth on a Papunya riverbed and how life starts as an open book, then fills with culture through language and art. She spoke with passion to an enthralled audience validating this meeting of minds:

“We are all here because we all love art”

As an unexpected bonus she broke into a wind dance explaining this is how her people cover their tracks. This was a wonderful moment.

Come and see for yourself the beauty and energy her work exudes. Be quick, it is disappearing fast!

Thank you Harvey House Productions for your fantastic short film.
Check us out on Facebook and YouTube.

We hope to see you soon!
